Natalie – Status Update

March 31, 2026

Today Natalie remains intubated. The goal for her is to progress with breathing spontaneously. while weaning her off of her sedation.

With Natalie experiencing less sedation, she has a greater desire to communicate. The problem with that desire is that she is limited in her ability to communicate. Her hands are tied to the bed to avoid her from pulling the tube out. She is still slightly sedated so that she doesn't have full muscle control making the restricted hands less functional. The only communication is through the letter board, but she doesn't have the range of motion to span the 8.5x11 sheet of paper.

The evening ended with us leaving Natalie in the company of her brother Kyle. She was anxious to know when we plan on arriving tomorrow. I'll still be working tomorrow, but will probably come early to meet with the doctor
