Joshua – Status Update

March 30, 2026

Joshua was quiet this morning. It would best be described as a sleepy day for Joshua. Sadly, sleepy days are not what we are looking for. We want to see Joshua grow in how awake and alert he is. We want him wanting to play the switch and wanting to use his iPad. Sadly, that didn't define today

In the afternoon, they experimented with moving him from the mask to the high flow cannula. Sadly, this didn't take and Joshua's oxygen saturation dropped. When I arrived, he was still struggling to stay above 91%.

With Joshua hanging at around 91%, the doctor came and spoke with us. He explained his concern, which we shared. Joshua appeared to regress a bit today and with where Joshua is at, he doesn't have much space to regress. Much more regression and Joshua will need to be intubated again to return him to health

When we left the hospital, Joshua had not been intubated. His oxygen levels had climbed a bit, spending some time at 94-95, but when we left it didn't appear as if he was able to keep it there consistently. We will see tomorrow where he is at when we return.

While we were in the hospital, Joshua's doctor prepared us that he may be intubated. Right before we went to sleep, the hospital called. Joshua's oxygen had dropped and the decision was made to intubate. We now have both kids intubated. Joshua is starting day 1 of his 3rd intubation. Natalie is on day 5.
